Cuban Jazz Combo - Afro Disco Connection (ITALIA 2011)

FABRIZIO AIELLO Born in Rome, Italy, Fabrizio, began his studies at the age of twelve , with the aclaimed american percussionist in europe, Karl Potter. in 1981 he became the official drummer of the known orchestra “ Yemaya“ latin music. In 1984 Yemayà was invited to Nicaragua to represent Italy in the 1° International Festival of LatinAmerican music. Immediately afterwards his travels took him to Cuba where was given the opportunity to study and play with teachers like ( los Papines, Carlos Aldama, Changuito...) just to name a few, and using this opportunity to really learn and understand all the percussions.
He traveled to Colombia in 1986 on a three mounth tour, playing with the the professional locals, latin jazz and salsa . Returning back to Rome, collaborating with Karl Potter, combining the different sounds of percussions from Latin America and Africa, thus began his connection with Afrocuban dance, with Bob Curtis and Oumar Kamara. in 1989 working alongside Joy Garrison formìng the group “Fujala” (funk, jazz, and latin) where they for four years toured all of Italy and its outskirts. he’s performed with musicians Paquito d’Rivera, Hilton Ruiz, Danilo Perez, Randy Brecker, Tony Scott, Massimo Urbani,Javier Girotto, Stefano di Battista Qt, Matthew Garrison, just to name a few. In 1990 he started working the Italian television and radio circuit, Rai,Mediaset, where he still performs regularly when not on the road.
